A couple of years ago our interns were working on our High School K-12 Social Emotional curriculum. Learning and applying The Continuum Theory to their own relationships and life, they saw firsthand the difference it was making in their lives. They insisted that we cannot forget about their needs. They felt there was no comparable program for them – and they came from campuses all over the USA. Companies offering Social Emotional Learning have not made college students a priority. R.E.A.L. changes all that.
Some of the problems and issues our interns presented as needing serious attention;
- Self-esteem, self-compassion, not liking themselves.
- Life skills, like communication, to help them handle conflict more effectively.
- Roommates, who are hard to get along with.
- Parents, who don’t understand them. So they tend to keep secrets from them.
- Siblings, who are difficult, and competitive.
- Romantic Relationships, ending in heartbreaks.
- Alcohol, drugs, sex which are hard habits to break.
- Depression, giving up hope.
- Future is scary.
The program –
